August 5, 2024 – We are happy to report that SoundExchange distributed $252 million in digital royalties to creators in the second quarter of 2022. When combined with the $265 million distributed in the first three months of the year, this brings annual distributions for the first half of 2022 to $517 million.

As the only U.S. entity designated by Congress to administer the Section 114 sound recording license, SoundExchange collects and distributes these royalties to the musicians and rights owners to which they are due. Since 2003, SoundExchange has distributed more than $11 billion directly to more than 700,000 music creators.

From monthly distributions and mobile payment options to the lowest administrative fee in the industry and relentless advocacy on behalf of the creator community, SoundExchange continues to work to make the business of music easier, more transparent, and fairer for creators.
