Peter Karafotas

SVP, Government Relations & Public Policy

With over 20 years of experience on Capitol Hill, Peter Karafotas oversees SoundExchange’s global public policy and legislative issues that impact the company. He leads the development of a proactive strategy to help SoundExchange fulfill its mission of protecting creators and the value of music.

Previously, Peter served as Chief of Staff to Ranking Member David N. Cicilline (former U.S. representative for Rhode Island’s 1st congressional district) where he oversaw issues related to intellectual property and music.

Peter’s career on the Hill includes Communications Director, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Legislative Director roles. He has also served as the Vice President of Operations for the media and strategic communications consulting firm Adelstein | Liston.

Peter received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
